The team's record in a sale
Selling a business with employees: their chat history and the sale
Updated
When a business with staff is sold or wound down, its workspace goes with it, and that workspace is the part training buyers ask for. It needs the same care as the staff's other records.
What goes with the sale
Most chat platforms on our board say the messages are the customer's, so the company's workspace is an asset it can transfer or license. Take the export while the account is live: Zoom gives thirty days after termination, and Lark deletes an account's content when it is closed.

What the staff are owed
Where a state requires notice of electronic monitoring, staff should already have had it in writing. In the UK people are owed an account of how their information is used and shared, and buyers expect names and personal channels to be stripped before any copy moves.

Selling or closing
A business being sold licenses or transfers its chat history under the sale terms. A closing company's directors can sell it before dissolution, or its administrator or liquidator in an insolvency. Tell us where the company stands in the enquiry form.
